Pay Anywhere Slots

Pay anywhere slots count matching symbols across the entire grid, with no lines and no adjacency, and pay once the count reaches a stated threshold.

How pay anywhere works

A pay anywhere game counts every matching symbol on the grid, wherever it lands, and pays once the count reaches a threshold stated in the paytable. Adjacency does not matter and there are no lines. A common format uses a 6×5 grid and pays from 8 matching symbols, with higher counts moving the win up a tier.

The system is sometimes described as scatter pays, because every paying symbol behaves the way Scatter Symbols behave in a line game. The paytable in a pay anywhere game lists value bands rather than line combinations, for example one value for 8 to 9 symbols and a higher value for 12 or more.

Pay anywhere is regularly paired with Tumble & Cascading Reels. The winning symbols are removed, new symbols drop into the empty cells, and the count starts again within the same paid spin. The pairing suits the mechanic because a single spin can then clear several waves of symbols.

The nearest neighbour is Cluster Pays, and the two should not be blurred. A cluster game requires matching symbols to touch, with the win decided by how large the connected group grows. A pay anywhere game ignores position entirely and cares only about the total count. A player reading a paytable can tell them apart by one line, which is whether the rules mention connected or adjacent symbols.

Threshold counts, symbol values and any count caps are disclosure matters, and a well documented game states all three. Where a value band is missing from the rules, a player is entitled to ask why before any stake is placed.
