Ante Bet Slots

An ante bet raises the stake per spin in exchange for a stated change, most often better bonus trigger odds, without buying the round outright.

How an ante bet works

An ante bet is an optional raised stake that changes a stated part of the game. The player pays more per spin, commonly 1.25x or 1.5x the base stake, and receives the change on every spin whilst the option stays on. The change most games offer is an improved chance of triggering the bonus, and some add extra trigger symbols to the reels instead.

The option is a standing arrangement rather than a one off payment, which separates it from a feature purchase, where a player pays a large stated multiple once and enters the round immediately. The ante moves the odds whilst the wait stays, and the purchase removes the wait at a price.

Two figures belong in the rules of any ante option. The first is the exact stake multiple the option costs. The second is the exact change it buys, and studios that document the feature properly print the improvement in plain numbers, for example by stating that the trigger chance doubles.

Where a game offers both the ante and the purchase, the rules usually make them exclusive, so switching the ante on removes the purchase menu. The pairing varies by market as well, because purchases are withheld from players in Great Britain whilst ante options generally remain.

An ante bet is a price change, and it should be read as one. The stake rises by a stated fraction, the trigger odds move by a stated amount, and both statements need to be in the rules before the option can be weighed at all.
